Polar Opposites - Antarctic & the Arctic with Paula Wright
No registration required; find the Zoom link in the most recent Tuesday Village Update.
Those of us who enjoyed Paula’s Village Talk last year will remember that Paula is a world traveler, having visited 86 countries and all seven continents. Paula’s Zoom presentation will tell about her travels to the South and North Poles, highlighting the beauty and grandeur of both poles. With the aid of her stunning photos, we will travel with her on trips to Antarctica, South Georgia Island, and the Falklands; follow the route of Shackleton; visit the Islands and ice of the Arctic; see polar bears of sub-Arctic Churchill, Manitoba; and yes, there will be penguins!
Paula’s career as a Mechanical Engineer and US Army Reserve Soldier
While at GE Aircraft Instruments, Paula traveled the world training managers. She was the first woman to chair the Aerospace Industries Committee in Washington DC, and testified before top brass at the Pentagon and members of Congress on behalf of the entire aerospace industry. She spent nine years in the US Army Reserve as an Information Specialist, Recruiter, and Trainer, and was named 76th Division Soldier of the Year.
Since retirement, Paula has traveled extensively and is a Volunteer Ambassador for Road Scholar, giving talks at various venues. She is also a member of Amesbury Rotary, occasionally teaches craft classes, does lots of photography, and, of course, is a member of the Greater Newburyport Village.
