Greater Newburyport Village event focuses on 'aging in place'

Published on 10/11/2017

NEWBURYPORT — For some people, aging comes with challenges that make living an independent life difficult to maintain. That's why the Greater Newburyport Village is hosting a special "watch party" of an interview with Atul Gawande, M.D., author of "Being Mortal" on Sept. 25 at the Newburyport Senior Community Center. Robin Young of WBUR will interview Gawande on his ideas about aging well, which focus on the benefits of people staying in their homes and communities as they age.

"His most uplifting message is that it's a worthwhile endeavor to keep people at home and in social situations as they age," said Greater Newburyport Village marketing and communication director Kate Derrick. "Many people can feel isolated and lonely."
